Announcing: "Shitholes"
"Shitholes" is a one-day only art gallery brought to you by Le Chapeau Project, an organization that curates and organizes ephemeral exhibitions around the world to promote emerging and unknown contemporary artists not often showcased in typical galleries.
Founders Fatène Ben-Hamza (currently Casablanca, Morocco) and Steve Garguilo (currently Ciudad Juárez, Mexico), both living in migration frontiers some depict as “shitholes,” want to challenge the current negative narrative spreading across the globe by showcasing the brilliant work of artists from these “shithole” regions.
The exhibit will showcase contemporary artists from at least 15 countries, including Haiti, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Rwanda and Tunisia. Artists from the United States are also to be expected. Through this exhibit, the audience will get a unique chance to dive into “shitholes” like never before!
“Shitholes” will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the United States on September 28, 2018 from 10am-7pm at the Adrienne.

About Le Chapeau Project
Established in 2018, Le Chapeau Project curates one-day only art galleries around the world featuring emerging and unknown contemporary artists not often showcased in typical galleries. Monet, Picasso, Míro, Van Gogh. Great guys. We love them. But this is different. This is the vanguard.
Are we into art? Yes? But like most people, we often find ourselves standing in modern art museums wondering what the hell does it all mean. Still, it seems like art remains a language that can transcend boundaries. So here we are, building a new kind of art gallery for curious souls who crave new experiences.
Chapeau is French for “hats” and is commonly used as an expression to say “hats off” to someone for a job well done. We started Le Chapeau Project to take our hats off to remarkable, quirky artists in all corners of the globe. (We also really like to pronounce the word “Chapeau”. Say it with us: “sha-poh”.)
Le Chapeau Project curates and presents art like never before. With our galleries, we promise you culturally rich, fun, and powerful art, as well as novel performances, experiments, and “useless” art that will allow you to engage with something different. Something global. Something bigger than you.
Chapeau, artists. Time for the world to experience you in a whole new way.
